Just make sure the window is open and there's nothing important outside, otherwise it might be cheaper just to buy the replacement ink/toner. :)

Yeah, ink cartridges were a sore spot for me too.

This is what we got recently.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous_ink_system

It costs about 110$ And holds the equivalent of 23 ink cartridges.
23 ink cartridges at 20$ a piece (off brand at walmart) =460$

And the Color is GREAT!

I've printed several full page photos and the color is nice and dark and doesn't fade at the bottom like it used to with cartridges.

Oh, and the refills for this (23 cartridges worth) are about 30$.

I am using a printer named Epson C358, and i am not satisfied with its performance. I was thinking to upgrade the printer and i usually searches in internet about the topics related to new printers, cartridges and its benefits and demerits. I found that the discussion you have started is a good one because i was not well aware with the ink jets available in the market and its problems. Thank you very much.

We have about 50/50 Brothers and HPs at Golden Rule. The HPs are definitely superior, but the Brothers are usually cheaper. We have paper feed and driver problems with the Brothers--they have a HORRIBLE bit of software; go out of your way to install just the driver sans software.

We have HP 1100s that we paid like $400 for back in 2002ish and have been running ever since.

I recently switched from hp to canon multifunction type laser printers. they are usually several hundred dollars less. Many of the business versions allow you to get a high capacity cartridge, which makes the price per page even cheaper (some hp's do that as well though)

HP is usually higher on their toner than canon too.
