What brand java do you like the most?

Postby Paul Yates on Thu Oct 13, 2005 8:14 pm

The bakery at which I am sales manager is considering selling coffee to the public, and we are brainstorming about how to go about this. Do we want a coffee service, like Standard, or what? I really want us to sell high quality coffee and perhaps cappucino (like the gas stations), but I don't want what people can get at McDonald's. Good stuff! So I'm wondering, where do you coffee drinkers go to get your java jolt, and what brand are they selling?

'Tim Hortons' is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a huge Canadian chain, that recently began expanding down here in the good ol U.S. of A. Their coffee is truly an awesome experience!!!

P.S. And by the way.....it beats Starbucks all to bits!!!

What's their White Chocolate Mocha equivalent?

Tim Horton's appears to be franchise only. I need something vendor-wise. Or maybe I just need a coffeemaker and go to Sam's Club on a regular basis.

8 o'clock was always raved about. Shoppers Food Warehouse. (or was it SuperFresh?)

Caribou Coffee is an up and coming (and EXCELLENT!) chain of coffee stores that sells individual coffee as well. Check with them. If you could get their coffee, I just might come visit the Yates and their bakery sometime soon...

I'll have to check out Caribou Coffee. A potential visit from the great Hans Mast is too good to pass up! :)

Eight O'clock Bean is excellent coffee. That's what we drink at home. Fresh ground is a must. We often get comments from guests, "Good Coffee" :)
In my opinion, Starbucks plain coffee is not that great. Their flavored drinks are good but I think the straight coffee tends to be too bitter.

You can buy Tim Hortons coffee in Grocery stores (by the can) in Canada. I have no clue if it would be available like that down here though.

I don't know the answer to that, since I usually got their frozen cappuchino's.

Blue Mountain, from Jamaica. Fresh ground, it's a small cup of heaven. Not a very dark coffee, so it's infinitely enjoyable for sipping.

Unfortunately, it's like 50 bucks a pound...

Yes, Hans, I had some in the Mall of America. It is good stuff. However, I suggest that you do something totally out of the ordinary that sets your bakery/coffee shop apart from everything else. How about getting coffee from Guatemala, or Jamaica, or something like that, and importing it up here, and sort of start your own thing? Just make sure that it tastes good, :P and you could just make your own stuff. For example, BBB brand coffee from Guat is great stuff. Getting it here may be a tad bit of a problem, but what's the fun of life w/o a challenge. Or, you could just try that $50 per lb. stuff like Jeff was saying.
